Animation

This animation was designed to introduce numbers to 3 to 6-year-old children in a fun way, in an effort to alleviate distaste and incite curiosity for numbers. Because the number-based characters act as helpful friends that brighten up the dark jungle filled with scary sounds and shadows, the animation could serve as an interesting academic stimulus that helps build a friendly connection between the children and numbers.

The young children loved the animation because they felt as if they were exploring the jungle, anticipating surprises as the numbers popped out of the wilderness like friendly animals.

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop were used to create the characters and background, and the timeline feature of After Effects was used to create the movements. Also, Premiere Pro was used to add final touches like subtitles and sound effects, which helped better engage the children.

Storybook

This is a storybook paired with the animation, using the same number-based characters that appear in the animation. While the storybook might be less enjoyable for the children than the animation, it serves as a useful tool for teaching them mathematical concepts in an engaging way. After introducing the children to numbers in a fun, intriguing way through the animation, the storybook can be used to actually teach what the numbers mean and even some basic operations (like addition or subtraction) that could be performed on the numbers.
